Majel Barrett

Majel Barrett Roddenberry ( born February 23, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio, † December 18, 2008 in Los Angeles, Majel Leigh Hudec native ) was an American actress and that of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry woman.

Life and work

Majel Barrett played different roles in the Star Trek series. Her first role was in 1964 the first officer of the USS Enterprise in the first pilot, " The Cage ". As the producer for the subsequent series Star Trek demanded several changes, occupied Gene Roddenberry as Nurse Christine Chapel here and Spock as First Officer (instead of him - as demanded by the producers - to fire ).

In his autobiography, Gene Roddenberry wrote:

"I did Leonard Nimoy as First Officer and Majel Barrett to my wife and the nurse of Enterprise. Although Leonard is a very nice guy, I have never regretted it. "
