Majel Barrett
Majel Barrett Roddenberry ( born February 23, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio, † December 18, 2008 in Los Angeles, Majel Leigh Hudec native ) was an American actress and that of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry woman.
Life and work
Majel Barrett played different roles in the Star Trek series. Her first role was in 1964 the first officer of the USS Enterprise in the first pilot, " The Cage ". As the producer for the subsequent series Star Trek demanded several changes, occupied Gene Roddenberry as Nurse Christine Chapel here and Spock as First Officer (instead of him - as demanded by the producers - to fire ).
In his autobiography, Gene Roddenberry wrote:
"I did Leonard Nimoy as First Officer and Majel Barrett to my wife and the nurse of Enterprise. Although Leonard is a very nice guy, I have never regretted it. "
From 1987, she played the Betazoid Ambassador Lwaxana Troi, mother of Deanna Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation, which is also in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine had several appearances.
Majel Barrett worked until her death in 2008 at all the Star Trek series and movies with: In addition to their roles in the original series, in The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, she borrowed in all series and films their voice to the onboard computers of Federation starships. She was also executive producer of the science-fiction series Mission Earth and Andromeda, based on designs of her husband. In the science fiction series " Babylon 5", she played the role of Lady Morella, a Centauri.
Barrett died in December 2008 at the age of 76 in Bel Air, Los Angeles, of complications from leukemia.
