Majlinda Bregu

Majlinda Bregu (full real name: Enver Majlinda Bregu; born May 19, 1974) is an Albanian politician (PD) and social scientist. Since March 2007, she directs the Ministry of European Integration of the Albanian government. At the same time they exercise the Office of the Government Spokesperson.

Career

Training

Majlinda Bregu studied between 1992 and 1996 social science at the University of Tirana. Thereafter she devoted herself to 1997 various internships and courses at various educational institutions in the world, so at McGill University in Montreal, at the Nova Institute in Oslo, at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt an der Oder, etc. These she graduated in 2004.

In 2003, she graduated with a Master from their studies begun in 2001 for Social Policy at the University of Tirana. A year later she finished with the thesis The sociology of cultural phenomena and the normative process their 2001 commenced studies at the University of Urbino.

Work as a social scientist

Bregu is committed to a social equality of women in Albania. So it was between 1996 and 2005 lecturer at the University of Tirana and lectured at the Society Faculty The research methods and gender issues. In 2004 she spent a year long national coordinator of the Gender Institute at the University of Tirana.

In addition to her work as a social scientist worked Majlinda Bregu between 1992 and 2005 in various media and published many articles on this topic.

Political beginnings

In January 2004 Bregu joined the Albanian politics. She was elected to the Coordinator of the Social Policy Committee for political orientation of the Democratic Party of Albania (PD). In April of the same year she became a member of the National Council of PD.

When the Democrats in 2005 for the first time in years were able to form the government, Majlinda Bregu was elected in the parliamentary elections in July as a Member of the PD in the Albanian parliament. To this day, she is a member of Parliament.

Minister for European Integration

After the 2005 elections Bregu held until March 2007, three offices held. She was President of the Albanian Parliament delegation in the European Parliament, Member of the Albanian Parliamentary Commission for Health and Social Affairs and President of the Commission for Children and gender equality. As the Cabinet Berisha I then was reorganized in March 2007, Bregu took over as head of the Ministry of European Integration and was at the same time government spokeswoman. In the parliamentary elections in July 2009, she was confirmed as a Member of PD.

As Minister Majlinda Bregu directs the integration of Albania into the European Union structures. Under her tenure, the exemption of visas for Albanian citizens traveling to the Schengen States in 2008 and the formal request for Albania's membership in the EU falls on April 28, 2009.

Majlinda Bregu is married and has two children. She speaks as foreign languages ​​English, Italian and Spanish.
