Makalero ( Macalero, Maklere ) is a Papuan language and ethnicity in East Timor. It is traditionally spoken only in the sub-district Iliomar (District loud ) of 7,500 people. A larger group Makaleros lives in the district capital Lospalos ( in Sawarica and Natura ) and in the national capital, Dili ( about 260, mainly in Becora ).
