Makasar is a district or Kecamatan of East Jakarta in the province of Jakarta. It has an area of ​​21.64 km ² and 157 261 inhabitants (as of 2000). History

The formerly known as " Kampung Makasar " (village Makasar ) known area includes the current district or Kelurahan Makasar and part of Kelurahan Kebon Pala and Kecamatan Jati Kramat. It was called Kampung Makasar, because the Makassar under the leadership of Captain Daeng Matara settled there in 1686.
