Makhaya Ntini

Makhaya Ntini ( born July 6, 1977 in Mdingi, Eastern Cape, South Africa ) is a former South African cricketer and the first black cricket national team of his country. He reached in his sporting career total of 390 wickets in Test matches - and putting it in second place in the South African and twelfth international rankings [Stand: January 13, 2011].

At the age of 15 years Ntini was discovered by a talent scout of the National United Cricket Board.

Except in his home country he played in England for Kent and Warwickshire, as well as for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.

National

In the 1997/1998 season Ntini played with only 20 years for the first time in the national team. His Test match debut came on 19 March 1998 against Sri Lanka and in his One- Day International debut he played against New Zealand.

More than 50,000 spectators at the Moses Mabhida stadium of Durban Ntini played on 9 January 2011, in his 10th Twenty20 International, one last time against India. He had already declared in late 2010 that he would end his international career. Never before had gathered on the African continent as many spectators at a cricket match. Overall, he played for the South African Cricket Team 101 Test matches and 173 One-Day Internationals.
