Down and Out in the Hoover Academy is an American comedy film from the year 1984.

Action

Palmer Woodrow is the son of a wealthy couple, which is just on the road. Since he fails again and again to make his college degree, he is informed from a distance, that any financial support it will fail in the future, he should not finally complete his academic education successfully. Because of the highly indebted to him Eddie Keaton is just right. Since this is on the run from the loan shark Dice, Woodrow Eddie committed for U.S. $ 10,000 and a Porsche, so he makes for him to complete, while he is in Europe on a skiing holiday. Background

Originally Jim Carrey should play the role of Eddie Keaton. He was then discovered by the casting director Julie Seltzer and producer Richard Kraft during a performance at a comedy club. Originally Danny Elfman was provided as a composer.

The film opened on May 18, 1984 in U.S. theaters and grossed over 4 million U.S. dollars. In Germany the film since 12 December 1986, available on VHS.
