Mako: Island of Secrets

Mako - Easy Mermaid (Original Title: Mako: Iceland of Secrets, also Mako Mermaids ) is an Australian youth series by Jonathan M. Shiff and a spin-off of H2O - Just Add Water. The series has been produced since 2012 by Shiff Jonathan M. Shiff Productions production company in collaboration with ZDF Enterprises. It is about the adventures of five -year-old sea 's Zac Blakely and mermaids Sirena, Nixie and Lyla. Action

The series tells of the three mermaids Lyla, Nixie and Sirena, who have taken care of by mistake that Zac was a merman. To deprive him of his powers again, try a normal life on land to live, which is not so easy for the three.

Season 1

The three mermaids Lyla, Nixie and Sirena live in a flock near the island Mako Iceland. One full moon day they are classified to the Mondsee to guard a magical crater on Mako Iceland, and to ensure that no one enters it. Nevertheless, they allow for the fact that the teenager Zac Blakely and his best friend Cam camp on the island.

Although the Mondsee does not have a regular agricultural input, Zac enters the lake by entering a magically hidden cave. The next day is Zac finds that he can control water and turned into a merman when he comes in contact with water. He inaugurates Cam and decides to keep his abilities secret.

At the same time, the mermaids get in trouble because of the swarm sees a merman as serious safety hazard. Lyla, Nixie and Sirena therefore be expelled from the group and the swarm hurries the waters of Mako Iceland. The three decide that their only chance is to rehabilitate themselves is to go ashore and Zac to get rid of his powers. The Mermaids investigate and learn from Rita, that many years ago, a group of sea men with the trident after Mako and all the mermaids took their forces. Zac, however, who does not know the truth about the trident, is fascinated by the power of the trident. Even in Zac's second full moon night he comes under the spell of the moon and swims by Mako. There he goes again through the portal and wants to get the trident. However, it is stopped by Lyla and realizes that she, Nixie and Sirena mermaids are. He is disappointed and breaks with them. Instead, he turns back to Cam, with whom he developed a strong distrust of the mermaids. Season 2

At the beginning of the second season two new mermaids, Ondina and Mimmi, on Mako. They believe that Zac is still a threat to the island. They have no idea that Eric is also a merman, the Mako wants to usurp.

Main plot locations

The action takes place mainly in Mondsee Mako Iceland, consisting of H2O assumed fictitious volcanic island in the Pacific Ocean near Australian coast, in Rita's house and at Zac's house, and in the Ocean Cafe, a popular cafe, which is run by David's parents.

Production

In July 2011, the production of a spin-off of H2O was - suddenly announced mermaid. It has ordered a first season with 26 episodes and a possible 90 - minute film. For the realization of the first season a budget of more than 12.3 million Australian dollars was available. The shooting of the first season began on May 8 and ended on October 12th, 2012.

Even before the broadcast of the first season, a second season has been commissioned to be broadcast in the spring of 2015. In January 2014 it was announced that the filming to begin in the spring and that have also left Lucy Fry and Ivy Latimer the series. The same day, Isabel Durant, Allie Bertram and Alex Cubis were cast for new lead roles. The budget of Season 2 consisted of 12.15 million U.S. dollars.

The premiere took place on Network Ten on 26 July 2013. Since Shiff Productions is in partnership with Netflix (USA), this has the rights to the video-on -demand distribution.
