Makoszowy

Makoszowy ( German: Makoszowy ) is a district of Zabrze with 2,000 inhabitants. It is located in the Silesian Voivodeship, Poland.

History

Until its annexation to Zabrze 1951 Makoszowy was an independent municipality. Since then, there is a district of Zabrze ( Zabrze Makoszowy ) about 4 km south of the city center. Makoszowy is surrounded by forests and ponds, at the Klodnitz and its tributaries Bielczanka and black water and is therefore a popular recreation area for nature lovers and anglers.

The settlement was inhabited until the mid-19th century mainly by farmers. Only in the second half of the 19th century, Makoszowy transformed thanks to the industrialization of the Upper Silesian industrial area primarily in a mining area. In Makoszowy are the Dellbrueck bays, a coal mine that was created from 1900 to 1906.

Sports

The successful Makoschauer club was founded in 1922, the SV Delbrück shafts. He played in the uppermost Upper Silesian Football League. With the conquest of the territories in early 1945 by the Red Army, the club went out.
