Malam Jabba

Malam Jabba ( Urdu مالم جبہ ) is a recreation center in Pakistan's Swat Valley, Karakoram. The center is located about 40 km from the main town in the Swat Valley, Saidu Sharif, and can be reached by a mountain road with cars. The distance from Islamabad is 314 km.

Foundation

The area was selected in 1962 as a suitable location for a resort. This selection was made in Austria ( ASAG ), who were invited by the Pakistan Government on the recommendation of the Austrian Ambassador Fritz Kolb explorations due to expertise of members of the Academic - social work community.

As a result, a hotel and ski lifts were built. However, the hotel stood empty for years and could not be used because there were disputes over the operator. Nevertheless, the area proved to be a magnet for tourists. From about 1998 the hotel from the Pakistan Tourist Development Corporation ( PTDC ) was operated. For a decade, Malam Jabba was the most famous ski station of Pakistan and was a popular destination for winter sports from Islamabad and Peshawar, including many students. Even in summer, visited many Pakistanis, but also foreigners who have their jobs in Pakistan, which located in 2500 m above sea level Erholgungszentrum because of the then refreshing climate.

Destruction

In the wake of unrest in Swat ( Pakistan's military fought against Taliban militias ) the facilities were closed in 2007 and placed in June 2008 on fire.
