( Also written Malange ) Malanje is a town in Angola with a population of about 100,000. The population is predominantly to different subgroups of Ambundu.

Malanje is the capital of the province of Malanje. Since the mid-20th century, the city is the seat of a Catholic and a Methodist bishop and since 2009/2010 the seat of a state university, the Universidade Lueij A'Nkonda.

A railway line ( Caminho de Ferro de Luanda ) leads from the capital Luanda to Malanje. Because of Entkolonisierungskonflikts 1974/75 and the Civil War from 1975 to 2002, the operation was, however, adjusted for years and was only resumed in January 2011.
