Malek Jandali

Malek Jandali (Arabic مالك جندلي; born December 25, 1972 in Waldbroel ) is a Syrian composer and pianist and is considered one of the most versatile and creative musicians in the Arab world. He is the first Syrian and only Arab music on the basis of the oldest notes in the world, dating from the Bronze Age have been discovered in Ugarit, has arranged. He is a cousin of the biological father of Steve Jobs.

Jandali was born in Germany but grew up in Homs (Syria ). He played piano as a child and won the 1988 first prize in a national competition for young artists in Syria. He first studied at the Conservatory in Damascus, and went in 1995 in the United States to study at the art school at the comic artist Erik Larsen, among others works for Marvel Comics. In 2004 he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Malek has a deep interest in music for dramatic purposes, and often draws pictures for his musical inspiration. His compositions range from solo instrumental pieces to large ensemble and orchestral works. He played to sold-out houses in London, Cairo, Damascus, Istanbul, Paris, Atlanta and Washington.

Since the year 2012, he dedicates his music to the " people of Syria and their noble desire for freedom - particularly the people of Homs ."
