Malešov

Malešov ( German Maleschau ) is a Městys in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers south-west of Kutna Hora and belongs to Okres Kutná Hora.

Geography

Malešov located in the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands, a creek Vrchlice. The village lies at the upper end of the Vrchlice Reservoir. To the north rises the Písečný vrch ( 356 m).

Neighboring towns are Bylany in the north, Poličany in the northeast, and Křesetice Bykáneč in the east, and Krupá Bykáň the southeast, Maxovna in the south, and Chlístovice Polánka in the southwest, and Roztěž Lazne in west and Nová Lhota in the northwest.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1303 in records. Charles IV confessed to him in 1340 the market rights. On November 11, 1421 Jan Žižka Malešov took them. On June 7, 1424 contingent of radical Hussites defeated under the command of Jan Zizka at the Battle of Maleschau a common army of the moderate Hussites of Prague and the Catholic aristocracy. Since 2006 Malešov again has the status of a Městys.

The Městys Malešov consists of the districts Albrechtice ( Albrechtitz ) Malešov ( Maleschau ) Maxovna ( Maxdorf ) Polánka ( Polanka ) and Týniště ( Tinischt ).
