Malko Competition

The Nikolai Malko Competition ( Nicolai Malko Competition for Young Conductors ) is a renowned international competition for young conductors. Applicants must be aged between 20 and 35 years. The competition is named after the Russian conductor Nikolai Malko ( 1883-1961 ).

The competition is held every three years since 1965 in Copenhagen. Winners of the competition is the symphony of Danmarks Radio. The current President of the competition is the Danish violinist Jacob Soelberg.

There are currently seven prizes awarded, which are doped with sums 20000-1500 euros. The winner of the contest will receive the opportunity to contest around 20 concerts with leading Scandinavian symphony orchestras within three years.
