Málkov (Chomutov District)

Málkov ( German Malkau ) is a municipality in Okres Chomutov, Czech Republic.

Location

The village lies at the foot of Höllmüllerberges (460 m) and Hradiště ( Small Purberg, 594 m) at the lower outlet of the Höllentales south of the Ore Mountains. In Málkov the Hutná ( Saubach ) opens přivaděč in the Podkrušnohorský. The sheltered location enables not only agriculture and animal husbandry also the fruit growing. The formerly operated mining was discontinued.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Málkov Lideň ( Glieden ) Málkov ( Malkau ) Vysoká ( Know ) and Zelena (Green). Basic settlement units are Ahníkov ( Hagendorf ) Kralupy u Chomutova ( German Kralupp ) Lideň, Málkov, Vysoká and Zelena. To Málkov also include the waste places Račice ( Retschitz ) and Zásada ( Sosau ).

The municipality is divided into the Katastralbezirke Ahníkov, Kralupy u Chomutova, Lideň, Málkov u Chomutova, Vysoká u Chomutova and Zelena.

Personalities

A famous local resident was Joseph Timothy Fassl, headmaster of Chomutov ( Chomutov ). He received an honorary citizen of the city of Chomutov and was curator of the Library Foundation Ossegg. Anton Martius, called the " Old Martius ". Researchers, who came in 1791 in Asch, the son of a deacon to the world, he studied theology, medicine and science, and was a resident of Malkau.
