Mallikarjun Kharge

M. Mallikarjun Kharge ( Mallikarjun Kharge Mapanna; Kannada: ಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನ ಖರ್ಗೆ; born July 21, 1942 in Varavatti, Bidar district, Karnataka ) is an Indian politician (Congress Party). Since 2009 he is a cabinet minister Manmohan Singh II, first as Minister of Labour and Employment, and then from 2013 as a railway minister. He previously held various ministerial posts in his home state Karnataka.

Biography

Mallikarjun Kharge was born on July 21, 1942 in the village in the district of Bidar Varavatti in the north of the present-day state of Karnataka. He comes from a family of Marathi -speaking Dalits ( untouchables ). Kharge is committed, how many marathisprachige Dalits to Buddhism in the tradition of social reformer BR Ambedkar. He is married and has five children.

His training included Kharge with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws colleges in Gulbarga. After graduation, he worked as a lawyer. Kharges political career in the Congress Party began in 1969 as chairman of the congressional committee in the city of Gulbarga. From 1972 to 2009 he was a deputy in the lower house of Karnataka, the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. He defended his constituency in the Federal State elections nine consecutive times. During his time held in the Federal State policy Kharge various ministerial posts in several Congress led governments of Karnataka: From 1976 to 1978 he was Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education, 1979, he was Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, and from 1980 to 1983 he held the Minister of Finance. From 1990 to 1992 he was again Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, 1992-1994 Minister for Cooperation and medium and large companies, from 1999 to 2004 Minister of the Interior, infrastructure and irrigation, as well as from 2004 to 2006 Minister of Water Resources and Transport. He was also from 1996 to 1999 and from 2008 to 2009 leader of the opposition.

Kharge was three contenders for the post of the Chief Minister ( Government) of Karnataka, missed the target but every time: After the 2004 election, he was appointed Chief Minister in conversation, ultimately put the coalition partner of the Congress Party, the party Janata Dal ( Secular ) (JD (S)), but by that instead Kharge N. Dharam Singh took office. Prior to the 2008 election Kharges leadership was undisputed in his party, the Congress Party lost the election but against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP ). After the 2013 election, the Congress Party came back to power in Karnataka back, but could not Kharge in the struggle for the post of Chief Minister prevail against his intra-party rivals Siddaramaiah.

2009 Kharge first appeared in elections to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the total Indian Parliament, and won the constituency of Gulbarga for themselves. After the election, he was appointed as Minister of Labour and Employment in Manmohan Singh's government. Following a restructuring of the Cabinet, he joined in June 2013 in the office of the Railway Minister. In January 2014 Kharge also took acting head of the Ministry of Social Justice and opportunities for participation.
