Malšín

Malšín, formerly Myšlany ( German times Ching ) is a municipality with 130 inhabitants (2006) in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers north of Vyšší Brod in the Bohemian Forest and belongs to Okres Český Krumlov. The land area is 2713 ha

Geography

The place is located in 794 m asl left of the Vltava valley at the foot of Malšínský kámen ( 856 m).

Neighboring towns are Běleň in the northeast, Větrná in the east, in the southeast and Machnatce Ostrov and Bolechy in the south,

History

The village was first mentioned in 1339 as Malschin and had already at that time a church, a branch of the church of Rosenberg. Predecessor of this church was a chapel, which was built in the second half of the 13th century.
