The Malvathu ( Sinhala මල්වතු ඔය Malvatu Oya ) is a 164 km long river in Sri Lanka. It is the second largest river in the country. The river connects Anuradhapura, the capital of the North Central Province, with the coast of Mannar. The northern part of the river is called Aruvi Aru or Aruvi, sometimes the entire river.
