Mametz (Somme)

Mametz ( Picard: Mamé ) is a northern French village with 169 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is part of the Canton of Albert and is part of the Communauté de communes du Pays du Coquelicot.

Geography

The approximately 6.5 kilometers east of Albert municipality located in the department of road D64 is predominantly agrarian structure.

History

The community, whose reign is mentioned in the early 14th century, was hotly debated in the Battle of the Somme on 1 July 1916, and again in August 1918 and was completely destroyed. She received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
