Mammoth Country - The Island of the inventor is a 2002 and 2004 produced broadcast on ZDF KiKA and animated series. It originated in German -French- British co-operation and is based on the The thick mammoth book art ( English original: The way things work) by David Macaulay.

Content

Each episode taught topics from science and technology and explains the physical basis of many everyday phenomena and machines through drawings and animations.

The series takes place on an island, living on the mammoth. An inventor builds together with the residents and with assistance of the mammoths as work animals machines that will make everyday life easier or solve problems such as a collapsed bridge or fire. They apply physical principles mainly from the mechanics at, for example, the inclined plane, magnetism or thermodynamics.

Production and publication

The series was produced by Millimages, Pearson Broadband, Schlessinger Media and ZDF 2003 and 2004. Directed by Diego Zamora and the screenplays written Simon Jowett and Alastair Swinnerton. Peter Lustig, known by the sending dandelion, presented in the German version of the 26 episodes of the show, sang the theme song and synchronized the inventor.

The series was aired from 24 August 2004 to 28 September 2004 KiKA in Germany, and later by one ORF in Austria. The consequences 1 to 12 appeared also on DVD.
