Mangfall

The Mangfall is part of the federal highway 8 and spans in Upper Bavaria between Munich and Rosenheim north of Weyarn the Mangfalltal. The building is situated between the motorway junctions wooden churches and Weyarn. The 288 m long girder bridge was opened to traffic for the first time in January 1936 and was one of the first major bridges of the autobahns.

Bridge from 1935

In March 1934 began as part of the construction of the autobahn from Munich to Salzburg, the construction of the Mangfall. The assembly of the superstructure of the big bridge was accompanied at length by the Nazi propaganda. Also had a stamp series modern buildings of the German Post for the Winter Relief 1936, the bridge as a motive.

The MAN from the work of Gustav castle designed and executed under the artistic advice of German Bestelmeyer steel structure, a three -span continuous girder bridge, Adolf Hitler chose from several designs. On November 24, the topping of pillar was celebrated. On January 6, 1936, five days before traffic handover of the section wooden church Weyarn, Hitler drove on the first, the building, which had four lanes. In 1945 followed the demolition of the bridge, the superstructure and the western pier destroyed, the eastern pier was badly damaged.

The superstructure of the 288 m long bridge had the run support as a building system in the longitudinal direction. The spans were in the surrounding areas 90.0 m, the infield spanned 108.0 m wide. The main supporting structure consisted of two steel girders full with a constant depth of 5.6 m at a spacing of 12.5 m. The loads of the 21.5 m wide reinforced concrete deck were removed via secondary longitudinal girders and cross beams in the main beam.

The two bridge pillars have a height of approximately 47 m and consist of two stems that are connected at the top with a 4.0 m high ledger. The stems have a hollow reinforced concrete cross sections with external dimensions in the bridge transverse direction of 5.0 m at the pier head and 6.0 m above the foundation. Established the pillars are approximately 10 m thick foundations on bedrock.

Bridge of 1948

From 1946, the destroyed pillar was rebuilt. As a Behelfsüberbau Schaper Krupp railroad bridge was installed, which was designed for two lanes. Before construction of the final bridge deck this was cross- moved in 1958. These pairs round auxiliary pillars of reinforced concrete were built with a hollow cross section and 3.0 m outside diameter on the southern side of the bridge. After completion of the new building of the degradation of the SKR- temporary bridge and the sprinkling of the auxiliary pier was.

The temporary bridge was in the longitudinal direction of three steel truss girders at 6.0 m height and 4.6 m center distance design. The concrete deck slab lying thereon had a width of 11.5 m.

Bridge from 1959

In 1957, the company Dyckerhoff & Widmann won with a special proposal to a design by Ulrich Finsterwalder under architectural consultancy by Gerd Lohmer the tender for the construction of the bridge superstructure. To perform a parallel-chord came prestressed concrete girder bridge, whose webs are designed as trusses with posts and crossing diagonals. The prestressed truss structure of the webs was first performed at the Mangfall in Germany. In addition to the then four- lane highway, a pedestrian and cycle are located below the deck in the bridge box.

The spans of the superstructure in accordance with the construction of 1935. The superstructure has in the longitudinal direction of the continuous beam with a constant depth of 6.65 m as a building system. In the transverse direction than building a system zweistegiger plate beams. In the post region a bottom plate with 66 cm thickness is placed due to the high compressive forces below. The lands are in the field range below a flange. They are perforated in trusses and have a center distance of 12.5 m at a thickness of 66 cm and 2.2 m in the pier area. The diagonals of the webs are biased in some areas. 23.5 m wide carriageway panel is biased in the transverse direction and is supported by cross members. The bridge was built by the balanced cantilever with auxiliary supports in 6.0 m lengths. Here, the superstructure was cast in two parts. The total construction cost of the building amounted to 7.3 million DM

Bridge from 1981

As part of the expansion of the motorway to six lanes of the existing bridge for the carriageway Salzburg -Munich was built a new bridge north by the Max Aicher Construction company from 1977 to 1979. As construction came a prestressed concrete box girder bridge for execution, with unchanged Fletching. The hollow box cross-section of the superstructure was made using the incremental launching method, and this was carried out in two parts by two abutments. The cantilevered deck slab parts were concreted subsequently.
