Province

Manica is a city of the province of Manica in Mozambique.

Geography

The city is an independent municipality in the district of Manica, about 60 km west- northwest of the provincial capital, Chimoio and 30 kilometers from the border with Zimbabwe.

North of the city lie to almost 1700 m high Penha Longa Mountains. In Chinamapere there are petroglyphs. About 20 kilometers from the national road EN6 direction Beira is the north shore of the reservoir Chicamba.

Population

Manica has 28 568 inhabitants ( 1997).

Economy and infrastructure

Manica is an important trading center with railway station.
