Manifesta

Manifesta is a European Biennial of Contemporary Art. The first took place in 1996 Manifesta, change venues every two years.

International Foundation Manifesta

Support the Biennale is the " International Foundation Manifesta " (IFM ), which would like to share a different European places, the local, national and international art with these events. Gleichzzeitig to the biennials perceive an archive functions and serve as an instrument of transparency, documentation and information and to encourage the research and discussion about contemporary art. The Foundation was established in 1996, is an independent non- profit organization and has its headquarters in Amsterdam.

Venues

Manifesta 7

The Manifesta7 was opened on 19 July 2008 and was divided into four exhibition venues: the Fortezza Fortress, the former Alumixgebäude in the Bolzano Industrial Zone (South Tyrol ), in the former post office of Trent and the former tobacco factory, the railway station and a former factory in Rovereto (Trentino ). A total of 188 artists involved in Manifesta7. The Manifesta7 closed its doors November 2, 2008.

Manifesta 8

Manifesta 8 took place for 100 days from 9 October 2010 to January 9, 2011 in the Murcia region held and was intended as a dialogue with art North Africa. It was curated by three collectives: Alexandria Contemporary Arts Forum, Chamber of Public Secrets and Tranzit.org.

Manifesta 9

Manifesta 9 was held from June 2 to September 30, 2012 in Genk in the Belgian province of Limburg instead. Curator was the art critic and historian Cuauhtémoc Medina. He lives and works in Mexico City and has a doctorate in art history and theory at the University of Essex, UK. Co- curators were Katerina Gregos and Dawn Ades. It featured 100 artists, including Bernd and Hilla Becher, Max Ernst, Richard Long, Michael Matthys, Henry Moore and Ni Haifeng.

Manifesta 10

Manifesta 10 is in Saint Petersburg from June 28 to October 31, 2014 stattund is curated by Kasper König. King wants to face contemporary works of art from the collection of the museum older. Main exhibition is a new wing of the Hermitage.
