Manitas de Plata

Manitas de Plata ( born August 7, 1921 in Sète, Southern France; actually Ricardo Baliardo ) was his virtuosic guitar playing the late 1950s, world famous. The artist 's name means " silver hand", a tribute to his guitar art.

Together with his cousin Jose Reyes, a flamenco singer from Nice, he gave numerous concerts around the world.

In many of his concerts, he was accompanied by his sons, nephews and sons- (Los Baliardos ), with whom he was forming his own flamenco style, mostly on the rhythm of the rumba based. He was the precursor and model for many musicians and groups such as the Gipsy Kings.

Was discovered Manitas de Plata in Saintes -Maries- de -la -Mer, in the south of France, Camargue. Its discoverers and patrons include Lucien Clergue, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí.

Like many of the Camargue musician is also Manitas de Plata has settled down and now lives in an apartment in La Grande Motte, southern France.
