Manitoba Telecom Services Inc. (MTS ) is a telecommunications company headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The company offers landline, Internet and mobile services. The company is the fourth largest telecommunications provider in Canada. Manitoba Telecom Services employs over 6,500 people. The company has drawn on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

History

On June 21, 1959, the emergency number 9-9-9 in Winnipeg was established. Thus, Winnipeg was one of the first cities in North America who had this number. End of 1950, referred Manitoba Telecom Services ( MTS) its first office on the Empress Steet, near the Polo Park Shopping Centre. In the seventies the company began simultaneously with AT & T the sale of telephone equipment and also offered to install a RJ11 Telefonanschussdose to free. In 1980 the company opened brush Verka setting up in major shopping centers. End of the 80s, the company launched the first mobile networks. In 1996 the IPO. In 1999 the company began to offer DSL Internet connections. 2001, a new headquarters was based. This is located on 333 Main Street.

The MTS Long Distance Gateway is located in the JF Building on the Mills Avenue Corydon which is also known as Confusion corner. There are, inter alia, Fernsehignale fed into the cable network and forwarded to other broadcast towers.
