Manitouwadge

Manitouwadge is a small town in the Canadian province of Ontario.

The town has 2,300 inhabitants. She suffers greatly from a migrant population that has no more job opportunities because of mine closures in the region. The city was built in the 1950s as a classic miner's town, as gold, copper and zinc were found in the region and one began with the extraction of raw materials.

Manitouwadge is surrounded by pristine wilderness. The nearest town with about 5,000 inhabitants, is Marathon, which is right on Lake Superior. " Manitouwadge " is an Indian word meaning something like " Cave of the Great Spirit ".
