Mannheimer Rosengarten

The Mannheim Rosengarten ( official name: m: con Congress Center Rosengarten ) is a convention and conference center in the inner city of Mannheim.

History

The building was built in 1900-1903 after a design by the architect Bruno Schmitz by the company Joseph Hoffmann & Sons as urban festival hall in the Art Nouveau style. The Nibelungensaal was with a capacity of 6,000 seats and one of the largest halls in Germany. Wendelin Weißheimer writes 1904 thrilled with his " huge success " in the " big building ". The rose garden is located on the north side of the Art Nouveau plant Friedrich square opposite the Mannheim landmark, the water tower. With its characteristic roof made of green glazed clay tiles of the rose garden dominates the cityscape as an important landmark. During the Second World War, the rose garden was badly damaged. The historic front end with the Musensaal was externally restored. Instead of not rebuilt Nibelungen hall was built behind the old building in 1974 a modern new building designed by the architect Karl Mannheim Schmucker, in which the Mozart Hall is, since the largest hall. Use

Space

The Mozart Hall can accommodate up to 2,300 people. The Hall of the Muses in the historic old building can accommodate up to 1,360 visitors, the next Stamitzsaal about 250 people. Extension 2006/2007

In essence, the expansion created according to the plans of the Mannheim architect Andres Schmucker a glass cube. It includes two new page foyers, ten additional seminar rooms, an auditorium for 500 people, four multi-purpose rooms and twelve new conference rooms.
