The superb dwarf perch ( Manonichthys splendens, Syn Pseudochromis splendens), with a length of 13 centimeters, a relatively large representative of the dwarf perch ( Pseudochromidae ).

Dissemination and lifestyle

It is found in the coral reefs of the Philippines, Indonesia and the eastern on the northwest coast of Australia. Especially frequently it is in Flores. He lives in outer reefs, reef roofs and lagoons in depths of 20 to 40 meters, closely tied to large, vase-shaped sponges, the cavities of which he uses as hiding places and on the surface he looks his consisting of small crustaceans food.

Aquarium maintenance

Unlike other dwarf perch the superb dwarf perch is not bred for aquarium purposes. The few animals that come on the market, are still wild-caught.
