Manzarek–Krieger

Riders on the Storm (formerly The Doors Of The 21st Century ) is an American rock band. Named to the Group to the former members of The Doors, Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger, after a song of the group.

History

After the Doors singer Jim Morrison died in 1971, the remaining members of the group Robby Krieger, John Densmore and Ray Manzarek two more albums ( Other Voices and Full Circle ) took on the name " The Doors ". Since the success failed to materialize, it was decided in 1973 to dissolve the group.

The paths of the remaining members parted. They met on 26 September 2000 at a reunion concert again, in which the Doors reinterpreted the old Doors songs with other well-known singers such as Perry Farrell, Scott Weiland, Scott Stapp, Travis Meeks and Ian Astbury.

Then it was again quiet around the band - until 2002, when it was decided, with Ian Astbury, the lead singer of the band The Cult to go to the Morrison role on U.S. tour. Due to a legal dispute with former Doors drummer John Densmore, who was replaced by Ty Dennis, and the parents of Jim Morrison called the group from now on The Doors Of The 21st Century (or short D21C ). In this tour, the DVD LA Woman Live was recorded, which was published in Germany in 2003. In the tour, as well as in the following in 2004 world tour, the band played differently than in the past with their own bassist Angelo Barbera, who has since been replaced by Phil Chen.

In 2005 came a new lawsuit which thus ended on July 22 that the band may occur either with the name "The Doors" still under the well-known logo. In addition, the court ordered that you have all the profits that were generated as D21C, surrendered to the former The Doors partnership. Since the court ruling, the band Riders on the Storm is called ( after a song by The Doors from the album LA Woman ). In 2005, the group went again to U.S. tour, the mini - world tour followed in 2006, in which the band gave two concerts in Germany.

In March 2007, Ian Astbury got out. Then Brett Scallions was hired as a singer, formerly a singer was with the group "Fuel ". After termination of cooperation with him Manzarek - Krieger tour since 2009, sometimes under their surname or as Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of The Doors.

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the death of Jim Morrison Manzarek - Krieger went on a European tour, which they began in Paris on July 3, 2011, with a concert at the Bataclan. As a singer they hired Dave Brock ( Wild Child ).
