Mapiri Municipality

The municipality Mapiri is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality Mapiri is one of eight Municipalities of the province Larecaja and is located in the northwestern part of the province. It is bordered to the north by the Province Franz Tamayo, in the northwest of the province of Bautista Saavedra, on the west by the municipality of Tacacoma, in the southwest and south by the municipality of Sorata, on the southeast by the municipality of Tipuani, and on the east by the municipality of Guanay.

The municipality Mapiri measures 60 kilometers from north to south, from west to east up to 40 kilometers. The municipality comprises 45 municipalities ( Localidades ), central location of the municipality is the town with 2,561 inhabitants Mapiri ( 2001 census ) in the central part of the county.

Geography

The municipality Mapiri located northeast of Lake Titicaca on the eastern edge of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Real in the lowlands of the Río Beni, one of the major rivers of the Amazon lowlands.

The mean average temperature of the region is over 23 ° C (see climate chart Mapiri ), the annual precipitation is just under 1400 mm.
