Maranoa Region
- 25.783333333333148.58333333333Koordinaten: 25 ° 47 ' S, 148 ° 35' O The Maranoa Region is a Local Government Area ( LGA) in the Australian state of Queensland. The area is 58,710 km ² and has about 13 000 inhabitants.
Geography
The region is located in South West Queensland approximately 430 km west of the capital Brisbane. The western part of the LGA is drained by the eponymous Maranoa River, while the southeast is mainly supplied directly to the Balonne River and thus belongs to the catchment of the Murray River and thus the water flow to the Indian Ocean. The northeast of the Maranoa region, however, is drained by the Injune Creek and Fitzroy River and thus belongs to the catchment of the Fitzroy River, which empties into the Pacific Ocean.
Largest city and administrative headquarters of the LGA is Roma with about 6000 inhabitants. The region includes the following districts and towns: Amby, Baffle West, Ballaroo, Bargunyah, Begonia, Beilba, Bindebango, Blythdale, Bungeworgorai, Bungil, Bymount, Cornwall, Dargal Road, Dunkeld, Durham Downs, Eumamurrin, Eurella, Euthulla, Forestvale, Glenmorgan, Gunnewin, Highland Plains Hodgson, Hutton Creek, Injune, Jackson, Jackson North, Jackson South, Kilmorey Falls, Mitchell, Mooga, Mount Abundance, Mount Bindango, Mount Howe, Mount Hutton, Mount Moffatt, Muckadilla, Mungallala South, Noorindoo, Oberina, Orallo, Orange Hill, Parknook, Pickanjinnie, Pony Hills, Roma, Simmie, Surat, Teelba, Tingun, Tyrconnel, Upper Dawson, V gate Walhallow, Wallumbilla, Wallumbilla North, Wallumbilla South, Warkon, Wellesley, Weribone, West Grove, Womalilla, Womblebank, Wycombe, Yuleba, Yuleba North and South Yuleba.
History
2008 Roma Town and the four Shires Bendemere, Booringa, Bungil and Warroo merged to form Roma State. A year later it was renamed the Maranoa region.
Management
The Maranoa Regional Council has nine members. The Mayor ( mayor) and eight other Councillor shall be elected by all residents of the region. The LGA is not divided into electoral districts.
