Marathon Petroleum

Marathon Petroleum Corporation, formerly Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC, is a U.S. company for refining, marketing and pipeline transportation of oil. It has its headquarters in Houston, Texas.

History

Due to the successful fuel brand name Marathon renamed in 1887 founded Ohio Oil Company in 1962 by Marathon Oil Company, Marathon which is a synonym for the product and the company was. In 1998, along with Marathon Ashland Inc. Ashland Petroleum LLC Marathon (MAP), which is the sixth-largest oil refinery in the U.S. today. In 2005 she became a 100 % subsidiary of Marathon Oil. On 1 July 2011, the two companies parted from each other.
