Marc-André Bédard (biathlete)

Marc -André Bédard Daniel ( born February 19, 1986 in Saint -Gabriel -de- Valcartier, Quebec ) is a Canadian biathlete.

Marc -André Bédard began in 2000 with the biathlon, after he was already active as a cross-country skiers before. With Myriam Bédard he is not related. He starts regularly since 2004 at European races and participates in the European Cup and European championships. His first appearance in the European Cup was in a relay race of Junior 2004, from 2006 he also started in single races. In parallel, he was able to achieve some success in junior competitions. He won in 2004 in Haute Maurienne, 2005 Kontiolahti and 2007 in Martell at the Junior World Championships in the relay each a medal - initially twice the silver and the bronze medal in 2007 - and in 2005 was in all competitions, the best-placed North Americans. At the Canadian Championships in 2004, 2005 and 2006, he won the title in the sprint and was in almost all other competitions on the podium.

In Cesana, Italy, he won on 12 March 2008 after a faultless shooting a sprint race in the European Cup. After the two-time Olympic gold medalist and world champion Myriam Bédard and Sandra Keith from Calgary, who won a race in the European Cup in 2003, he was only the third Canadian who won in an international biathlon competition outside North America. In the 2008/2009 season Bédard was unable to repeat his success from the previous season. In the race of the IBU Cups he made no place in the top twenty. Still, he could still make his debut in the Biathlon World Cup in a sprint race in the same season in Trondheim and reached rank 46 immediately subsequent persecution. In Antholz, he was able to sprint with 20th place in 2010 to reach its best performance in the World Cup and for the first time win the World Cup points. Marc -André Bédard took in 2010 at the Olympic Winter Games in part. In his only start, with the season, he was ranked 10th on the North American Championships in Biathlon, 2010 in Fort Kent, he participated as the only renowned Canadian biathlete and won behind Wynn Roberts and Walt Shepard bronze in pursuit race and behind Russell Currier in the mass start silver. In the overall standings of the Biathlon NorAm Cup 2009/2010 Bédard finished in eighth place in the overall standings and ever once in the race first, second and third. Noteworthy is his third overall in the 2011/2012 season, as he played only four out of twelve races, but they all won. The following season, he finally won the NorAm Cup after two wins and second places. In the North American Championships in the summer biathlon 2010 in Canmore, he won the sprint as well as in the pursuit of gold.
