Marc-André Bédard (politician)

Marc -André Bédard ( born August 15, 1935 in Sainte -Croix ( Quebec) ) was a politician from Quebec, Canada.

Background

Marc -André Bédard is by profession a lawyer. He worked in the administration of the University of Quebec and most recently for the Museum of Saguenay -Lac -Saint -Jean. His son Stéphane Bédard is also a politician.

Political career

Bédard was in 1973, 1976 and 1981 as representative of the Parti Québécois, the party for the secession of Québec to the National Assembly of Quebec (English National Assembly of Quebec, French Assemblée nationale du Québec) selected.

In 1976 he became Minister of Justice as a member of the Cabinet (English Executive Council of Quebec, French Conseil des ministres du Québec ) under Prime Minister René Lévesque and after its withdrawal by December 1985, his successor, Pierre Marc Johnson, Minister of State for electoral reform. In 1985, he did not present himself for re-election.
