Marc Perrin de Brichambaut

Marc Perrin de Brichambaut ( born October 29, 1948 in Rabat, Morocco) is a French jurist and diplomat and was from June 2005 to 2011 Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

Life and work

Marc Perrin de Brichambaut was born in Morocco. He graduated from the French Ecole Nationale d'Administration in Paris in 1974.

Before he became the OSCE Secretary General, he held senior positions in the French administration and in international organizations, including in the UN. He was also a consultant to the French Foreign Minister Claude Cheysson.

1983 and 1984, he was chief of staff of Roland Dumas, Minister for European Affairs, and served Dumas continue in this role, as this became Foreign Minister.

In 1986 he moved Marc Perrin de Brichambaut to New York and worked as a cultural ambassador for the French Embassy. In 1988 he returned to Paris as a consultant for Verteigungsministier Jean -Pierre Chevenement.

From 1991 to 1994 de Brichambaut was the head of the French delegation to the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe in Vienna and from 1994 to 1998, he led the legal department of the French Foreign Ministry.

Subsequently, he was Head of Strategic Affairs at the French Ministry of Defence.
