Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo

Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo ( born September 8, 1942 in Buenos Aires, Argentina ) is a Curia Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo received on 7 December 1968, the sacrament of Holy Orders. In 1974 he graduated from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome a degree in Catholic theology and 1977 at the University of Perugia, a degree in philosophy.

From 1976-1998 Sánchez Sorondo was Professor of History of Philosophy at the Pontifical Lateran University. Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo was 1987-1996 Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at the Pontifical Lateran University. In 1998 he became Professor of History of Philosophy at the Libera Università Maria Santissima Assunta in Rome. Since 1989, Sánchez Sorondo is a member of the Pontifical Academy of St. Thomas Aquinas, and since 1999 its secretary. In 1998 he was also Chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences.

On 23 February 2001, Pope John Paul II appointed Titular Bishop of Forum Novum. He received his episcopal consecration John Paul II on 19 March 2001 in St. Peter's Basilica; Co-consecrators were Cardinal Angelo Sodano and Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re. He is Vice - Grand Prior of the Order of Constantine.
