Marcin Libicki

Marcin Libicki ( born February 2, 1939 in Poznań) is a Polish art historian and former politician of the conservative PiS party.

Libicki was several times member of the Polish Parliament ( 1991-93, 1997-2001, 2001-2004), where he belonged to the Committee on European Affairs, among others, from 2001. 1998 to 2001 he was also Vice- President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council. 2002 to 2009 he was a member of the party executive and the Programme Council of the PiS.

2003 was Libicki observers in the European Parliament in order to be prepared together with other Central and Eastern European parliament on the EU accession in 2004. In the 2004 European elections, the first, took part in the Poland, Libicki pulled himself to parliament. The PiS joined there the right-wing Union for a Europe of Nations ( UEN) to; Libicki has been Chairman of the Petitions Committee of the Parliament.

On 9 April 2009 Libicki left the PiS in protest because of the cancellation of his candidature for the European elections in 2009.

Marcin Libicki is a member of the Order of Malta. He has a son Jan Filip Libicki, who is himself a deputy in the Polish Parliament.

According to new research by the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN ) Libicki was recorded in the documents of the Polish security service as a contact person of the 1st Division of the Ministry of Interior. Libicki denied this allegation and stated that it has made three statements in this regard, which were not disputed.
