Marco Schällibaum

Marco Schällibaum ( born April 6, 1962 in Zurich ) is a former Swiss football player and current football coach. He played for Grasshopper Club Zurich, FC Basel, at Servette Geneva and FC Luzern.

After his career as a professional footballer, he worked as an assistant coach at FC Basel. He was coach of the BSC Young Boys, with whom he 's re-emergence in the National League A and 2002 resulted in the UEFA Cup in 2001 1999. For the 2003/04 season he was coach of Servette Geneva. Later he was coach at Concordia Basel. In November 2006, he coached FC Sion, but was dismissed in the same month. On 2 April 2007 he signed a contract with the then relegation-threatened FC Schaffhausen. The descent he could not prevent, however, he remained coach at FC Schaffhausen in the Challenge League. On 28 April 2008 it was announced that he will leave at the end of Schaffhausen 2008/09 season. On June 6, 2008, his immediate change to the Super League AC Bellinzona climber was announced.

On 1 November 2009 he resigned at FC Bellinzona to a 0:5 home defeat against FC St. Gallen.

On May 17, 2010 Marco Schällibaum took over on an interim basis to FC Lugano for the two Axpo Super League Barragespiele the season 2009/10. Although he was not reaching the ascent, his contract for the 2010/11 season has been extended. He was then set at the FIFA and worked for two years as an instructor for new coaches in Asia.

In January 2013 Schällibaum took over as coach at the Canadian club Montreal Impact of Major League Soccer. In mid-December Schällibaum was released at the Montreal Impact's.

For the Swiss national football team he was 1983-1988 31 times on the field.
