Marcus Perperna

Marcus Perperna († 129 BC in Pergamon ) was a politician of the late Roman Republic.

As praetor 135 BC Perperna knocked down the slave revolt in Sicily and was honored with a ovatio. 130 BC he was appointed as a homo novus consul in Asia Minor, and threw down the Aristonicus uprising. During the preparations for the celebration of victory Perperna died in Pergamos.

Whether the information of Valerius Maximus (3, 4, 5 ) applies, that the father of the consul was 126 BC from Rome expelled because he Roman citizenship had usurped, is not clear.
