Mardi Gras is the seventh and final studio album by the American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival and appeared in April 1972 at the record label Fantasy Records.

Background

Mardi Gras was named after the carnival of the American South. The album came about after Tom Fogerty had left the group in 1971. Stamped it is mainly due to the emerging differences in the band. While in the earlier albums alone John Fogerty wrote the songs and the arrangements and also produced, it was now agreed to distribute the roles stronger since Stu Cook and Doug Clifford were no longer satisfied with their roles in the background of the band. This meant that Clifford and Cook, also sang in the songs they had written.

The album was rated by critics largely negative and has sold less well than its predecessors.
