Mares is a manufacturer of diving equipment. The company's headquarters is located in Rapallo in Italy. Mares belongs alongside other companies such Tyrolia and Penn Racquet for sporting goods manufacturer Head.

Founding and history of the company

The origin of the company is in a 1949 in Rapallo by the Italian Ludovico Mares Mares under the name Sub founded companies. Following the prevailing circumstances and the former image of diving were focused initially on equipment for underwater hunting in Italian waters. The range and distribution area has been considerably expanded in the following decades, so that the company is the world today with its wide variety of diving products on the market. Since the sale by Ludovico Mares ( 1971), it changed hands several times the name and the owner (eg it belonged 1972-1990 as AMF Mares Austria Tabak ) and belongs since 1996 as a separate brand for the head- group operating in the core business priority Tennis - manufactures and ski equipment. On 11 December 2013 Head announced that the diving organization SSI was acquired and thus Mares and SSI will in future appear together on the market.
