Margaret Ewing

Margaret Ewing ( born 1945 in Lanark as Margaret McAdam, † 21 March 2006) was a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP).

Ewing attended the Biggar High School and then studied at the University of Glasgow, the University of Strathclyde and the Jordanhill College. Margaret Ewing was the wife of the politician Fergus Ewing and sister of Annabelle Ewing.

House of Commons

For the first time joined Ewing, after her first husband as Margaret Bain, at the general election in October 1974 national elections. You won the direct mandate of the constituency in East Dunbartonshire with 22 votes ahead of the conservative Barry Henderson. She lost her seat at the next general election in 1979. Towards the end of the legislative term of the constituency East Dunbartonshire was dissolved and Ewing joined the general election in 1983 for the constituency of Strathkelvin and Bearsden. However, it was only the fourth highest number of votes. At the general election in 1987 Ewing won the direct mandate of the constituency of Moray and went up again in the House of Commons. Scottish Parliament

In the parliamentary elections of 1999 Ewing was a candidate in the constituency of Moray. You won the direct mandate and moved into the newly created Scottish Parliament. In the 2003 parliamentary elections Ewing defended its mandate. Ewing announced later, no longer be a candidate in the next parliamentary elections. She died in the spring of 2006 from breast cancer, against which it has been previously treated.
