Margaret MacMillan

Margaret Olwen MacMillan, OC ( born December 23, 1943 in Toronto ) is a Canadian historian. She has worked at the University of Oxford, where she also heads the St Antony 's College.

Career

The great-granddaughter of British Prime Minister David Lloyd George made 1974 her Ph.D. at St Antony 's College, Oxford. She worked from 1975 to 2002 at Ryerson University her home town of Toronto. For " Peacemakers: The Paris Peace Conference of 1919 ", she won the Duff Cooper Prize, the Hessell - Tiltman Prize and the first woman awarded the Samuel Johnson Prize.
