Margaret Varner Bloss

Margaret Varner (* October 4, 1927 in El Paso, Texas, married Margaret Bloss ) is a former American badminton, tennis, squash player and stables owner.

Career

Margaret Varner won three times the All England Badminton and twice the open U.S. Championships. Even in tennis and squash it recorded sporting success. The squash was 1960-1963 four consecutive times U.S. champion and was also appointed to the national team. In 2000, she was accepted by the U.S. Squash Association in the U.S. Squash Hall of Fame. Since she is also a member of the Hall of Fame of the American Badminton Association, Varner holds two new records: she is the only American who each won a national title in the sports of squash and badminton and is listed in two national Hall of Fames. The squash was from 1960 to 1963 four times.
