Mari Akasaka

Mari Akasaka (赤 坂 真理jap, Akasaka Mari, born May 13, 1964 in Suginami, Tokyo ) is a Japanese writer of the J- Bungaku.

Life

Mari Akasaka was born in 1964 in Suginami, and now lives in Tokyo. She studied political science at Keio University and currently works primarily as a magazine editor. Part-time she has published several novels.

1999 her novel vibration was nominated for the Akutagawa Prize. In 2000, she was again nominated for the Akutagawa Prize, this time for the tale Muse, which was eventually awarded the Noma Literary Prize for debutants.

Vibration is her first book, which is available in German translation. It was filmed in Japan in 2003. 2013 she received for Toyko Prison (東京 プリズン) the Murasaki Shikibu - Prize for Literature.
