Maria Dragoni

Maria Dragoni ( born December 22, 1958 in Procida) is an Italian opera singer (soprano ).

Career

After her studies at the Conservatory of Frosinone Maria Dragoni 1972 Member of the RAI Chorus at Rome. After further studies with Rodolfo Celletti and Gina Cigna, she won the 1983 Maria Callas singing competition in Rome. In 1984 she made ​​her debut at the Opera in Jesi in the title role of the opera Il Pirata by Vincenzo Bellini. Then began an international career with appearances in Naples, Milan, Turin, Venice, Wiesbaden, Strasbourg, Montpellier, Nancy, Paris, Zurich and New York and at the festivals in Macerata and at the Arena di Verona.

Maria Dragonis repertoire consists mainly of dramatic coloratura roles of Italian opera literature, such as the Paolina in " Poliuto " and the title character in " Anna Bolena " by Gaetano Donizetti. But even as "Aida" in the eponymous opera by Giuseppe Verdi, she was successful.
