Maria Gorokhovskaya

Marija Kondratievna Gorochowskaja (Russian Мария Кондратьевна Гороховская; born October 17, 1921 in Evpatoria, † July 22, 2001 in Tel Aviv ) was a Soviet gymnast. She went to the club Stroitjel Kharkov and won at the Olympic Summer Games in Helsinki in 1952 a total of seven medals; this success was not a woman before and after her win at the Olympics. Gorochowskaja reached five second places with silver medals, so that they could decide the individual all-around for in the sum, since none of their competitors could have a similar consistency to the gymnastic equipment. Furthermore, they also won the team more battle with the Soviet team.

Your second and at the same time already last major international appearance had Marija Gorochowskaja won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Artistic Gymnastics 1954 in Rome, where she won the team all-around again and in the floor exercise.

Then she ended her active career and worked as a martial judge at international gymnastics events and as a lecturer. In 1990 she emigrated to Israel.
