The Maria -Theresia -Gymnasium Munich is a school on Regerplatz in the Au. The school was named after the then Princess of Bavaria Marie Therese.
Founded in 1899 as a county junior high school, it was 1940 district secondary school and public high school in 1965. In the school year 2004/2005 taught at Maria- Theresia -Gymnasium, in a scientific- mathematical and modern languages branch, around 750 students. Until 2010/2011, this number rose to about 980
A special feature of the school are existing since 1998 gifted support classes. These students are taught through the tenth grade in both branches ( scientific- mathematical and modern languages ). In a partnership with the Ludwig- Maximilians- University of Munich gifted students receive so-called " enrichment " classes, in which they can conduct their own experiments under supervision of well-known professors in biology and physics department of the University.
In addition, the school also serves as a seminary school for teacher trainees.
As part of the introduction of a G8 extension building was constructed in which a cafeteria with kitchen, a disabled toilet and several new classrooms are located.
