Marianne Timmer

Maria Aaltje "Marianne" Timmer ( born October 3, 1974 in Sappemeer ) is a former Dutch speed skater.

At their first participation in 1998 Olympics in Nagano, she was double Olympic champion over 1,000 m and 1,500 m. In Salt Lake City in 2002, they failed to win a medal. About 1000 m they narrowly missed the bronze medal. 2006 in Turin Marianne Timmer went over 500 m and 1000 m at the start and was Olympic champion over 1,000 m.

In 2001 she married her former coach, the 1000m Olympic champion from 1976, Peter Mueller, from which it separated after two years. During the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin made ​​her Henk Timmer via live TV circuit to marry him.

28 December 2010 Timmer ended her athletic career.
