Marie-Félicité Brosset

Marie Felicite Brosset ( born February 5, 1802 in Paris, † September 3, 1880 in Châtelleraut, Perigord ) was a French orientalist.

Brosset was especially known as an authority for the Georgian, initially studied theology at the seminaries of Orléans and Paris, then Oriental languages ​​and was first through the publication and translation of a Chronique géorgienne (Paris 1830), the Mémoires sur la langue et l' inédits histoire géorgiennes (Paris 1833) and a grammar of the Georgian language (Paris 1834) known.

After Brosset had gone to Russia, he was here appointed associate in 1847 a full member of the Academy of Sciences for the subject of the Georgian and Armenian Literature in 1838 and also received in 1841 the office of inspector of Partikularschulen in Saint Petersburg, in 1842 became librarian at the imperial Library in 1851 to curator of the collection of Oriental coins in the Hermitage.
