Mariela del Carmen Coronel ( born June 20, 1981 in Santiago del Estero ) is an Argentine footballer.

Career

In the club

The midfielder started her professional career in 2000 for Club Atlético Independiente. After the World Cup in 2003, she moved to San Lorenzo de Almagro. In three years at San Lorenzo de Almagro they matured to the top player and moved in summer 2007 to the Spanish side Zaragoza Prainsa. There, she reached the final of the 2009 Copa de la Reina in the Estadio de La Romareda. The team lost this final 1:5, but Coronel was able to achieve the only goal of their team. Since the 2011 season, she's captain and one of the major players of Prainsa.

National

Coronel played for the Argentine national football team of women.

She participated in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing for this. Previously, she participated in the two World Championships in 2003 and 2007.
